My exciting day at the speech finals

On Wednesday the 26 of August I went to the Far North speech finals. The first thing I did when I got there was… Panic, I was so nervous, but when Liv finally got there I calmed down a bit. My Mum went and looked at who was going first. I was shocked when my Mum told me that Liv was going third!!! We all sat down on the seats while the Judges said their korero, karakia and mihi and sang waiata. After they did that Liv was going up turns out she was actually first (I could tell she was nervous) . Her speech was about “Do pets deserve the same care as humans.” I think they do! The sad thing is that at the end she added that her pet bunny Snowball died! Sad. I loved that when my mum told me I was going 19th because the funny thing is, that I was born on april the 19th. So after all of the speeches from the year 5’s, we did a few tongue twisters like… Sally sells seashells on the sea shore. If she doesn't then I'm not too sure. So I think Sally sells seashells on the seashore. There was also this one.Can you can the canned can? If you can can the canned can then you get an uncanned can if you can't can the canned can you don't get a canned can. They were really hard to say if you ask me. After ALL the tongue twisters we finally had morning tea it was about 10:50 and we started the speeches at 8:00 or 8:30 I think. There were heaps of food like cakes, donuts and fruit. I think I ate about 100 donuts. They were delicious! People were still eating and the yr 6 speeches were not going to start for an hour so we went into the museum and looked at all the stuff in the museum ( By we I mean, Me/Kara, Perri, Shelby, Liv and Laila ) After that we went up the elevator and walked around the seagull thing heaps of times then went back down the elevator. We made it just in time for the year 6’s to start the speechs. The first person going up was Perri, turns out they mixed up all the names and now I was going FOURTH. I was so scared now. I finally walked up on stage and took a few deep breaths. Then Said my speech. I was so nervous that I wasn't going to come 3rd, 2cnd or 1st. After all the yr 6’s said their speech for the year 6’s we had lunch. Guess what we had for lunch… We had some delicious pizza. My absolute favourite kind was the meat lovers mmmmmm even when I think about it. It tastes soooooooo nice. We all went to eat some pizza and sheIby had to go soooo extra and buy a big steak burger from the cafe! After that since we were going to have our prize given in half ‘n’ hour we went to the library again. We were going to play on the tree but noooo guess what… They had to block it off so now since we had nothing to do I said “ WHO EVER FINDS THE MOST DUMB BOOK GET’S FIVE BUCKS OFF ME.”Guess what I found it. It was called mouse magic, stupid am I right? Oh No we're late. We all ran to the stadium and surprisingly they were just about to start. I was so nervous about who was going to get 1st,2nd and 3rd I was TREMBLING! First they gave out all the participation certificates. The sad thing is that they never gave me one. Shelby said "When I don't get a participation certificate I usually get first, second or third" Which got me really hyped up. " Second place is... Karanui Popata!"  I felt like I was going to cry. As I walked up the stage They called up LIV for SECOND PLACE. OMG I cant believe that me and Liv both just placed for second. We both were so excited to actually come second (Because it was our first time going there). We both squealed with joy as we went off stage. “MUM LOOK'' We both said, showing our mums the certificates and prizes we got. After that we had afternoon tea, like some more fruit and cakes (Turns out all the donuts were gone). Mum said she needs to go back to work and that I could walk home. So I said my goodbyes and walked home. That was my exciting day at the speech’s
